HEALING THE HOME - Part 3

TOPIC: MARRIAGE THE FIRST GOOD AND IMPORTANT INSTITUTION ESTABLISHED BY GOD

TEXT: Genesis 2:18-24.

God first instituted the home 4000 years before the church. That is to tell you that the home is very important to God. In fact if the home is spoil, then the church is also spoil because it is the people in the home that comes to the church. The Bible say if you cannot take care of your home, you cannot be able to take care of the church of God. 1 Timothy 3:4-5

1.      According to Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25 God made everything good. After God made man then he saw that what was created was very good (Genesis 1:31).For the first time God describe something as not good and it was for a man to be alone without marriage (Genesis 2:18). God performed the first operation by removing from the rib of Adam to form a woman and performed the first wedding ceremony between Adam and Eve so that everything will be good.

2.    The miraculous operational and creation of the woman and God’s presentation to Adam resulted in the first marriage in chapter two of the book of Genesis

3.    By God’s divine providence in chapter two of John Jesus attended the first miracle which was in respect of marriage in Cana of Galilee and made the wedding good by his present. John2:1-11.

4.    When Jesus was asked about marriage he looked back to the event of marriage in Genesis as setting the standard. Mathew 19:3-9.

5.     The beauty of marriage is seen I that Christ’s relationship with the church is likened to that between husband and wife. Ephesians 5:22-33

6.    Heaven is pictured as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2

7.     Paul indicated his approval of marriage by saying that it was right for a man and a woman to marry even in a difficult condition. 1 Corinthians 7:26-28.

8.    The Writer of Hebrew affirmed that marriage is honorable among all men and the bed undefiled. Hebrews 13:4.

9.    In fact the great apostasy and falling away is that some will forbid marrying. 1 Timothy 4:3. When couples marry, they enter into something; a state of life that has God’s approval.

10.            The blessings of marriage are conditional: i. An excellent wife is the crown of her husband. Proverbs 12:4. Ii. He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtained favor of the Lord. Proverbs 18:22. Iii. A prudent wife is from the Lord. Proverbs 19:14.

11.  The answer to Marriage problems is God and the Bible His word is the operational manual for a successful home. He has the answer because He is the creator and inventor of the institution of marriage.

CONCLUSION: When you are breaking the rule against marriage, you are not just doing it against your spouse but against God and yourself. If you cannot honor Jesus in your marriage, He cannot honor your marriage too. The more your family draws near to God, the more God will draw near to you. James 4:7-8.
